1. Prevents tooth cavities

A compound present in cranberries inhibits the harmful bacteria responsible for carries by inhibiting the production of acid and protecting the teeth by preventing growth of plaque. Consuming cranberries can interrupt the pathogenic mechanism and in turn promotes dental health.

2. Prevents Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

When the level of certain bacteria exceeds normal levels in the urine, it can cause UTI which can lead to cystitis in the bladder, renal parenchyma in the kidneys etc. Several studies have shown that cranberry juice contains certain compounds that prevent the bacteria from binding itself to the walls of the bladder and multiplying and also flushes them out through urination.

Cranberry juice is a preventative measure for UTIs and is not effective in treating UTIs. Cranberry juice can be beneficial to prevent recurring UTIs in pregnant and middle aged women.

3. Reduces peptic Ulcers

Cranberries are rich in flavonoids which reduces the risk of stomach disorders including stomach ulcers. It does so by inhibiting the growth of the responsible bacteria.

4. Decrease blood pressure

Cranberries are rich source of fibers which is associated with lowering the risk of developing hypertension. Increased fiber intake lowers blood pressure, cholesterol levels and also improves insulin sensitivity.

5. Reduces risk of heart diseases such as atherosclerosis

Cranberries contain certain flavonoids that have antioxidant properties and helps in decreasing the risk of atherosclerosis. These flavonoids delay and suppress the oxidation of LDL cholesterol and stimulate the blood platelets.

6. Promotes Bone Health

Calcium are natural source of calcium and Vitamin K, and both these nutrients are essential for reducing the risk of getting osteoporosis.

7. Prevents formation of Kidney stones

Cranberry juice is rich in acid content. This acid content prevents the kidney stone formation.

8. Inhibits certain respiratory infections

Cranberry juice inhibits certain strains of Haemophilus influenza which causes respiratory and ear infections in children. It also prevents the bacteria from adhering to the surface of the skin and thus reduces the risk of respiratory infections.

9. Prevents Scurvy

Being rich in Vitamin C, cranberries prevent scurvy. Vitamin C is essential for the formation of collagen, which is a main component behind the healthy functioning of tissues.

10. Reduces Lung inflammation

Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, cranberries juice have found to be effective against inflammation. Substance found in cranberries prevent the influenza virus from sticking to the cells and thus prevent the flu infection.
