essential oil

Essential oils are packed with health promoting ingredients from omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. The trick is in finding the type of essential oil that could work for your skin. Different essential oils have different functions. Here are few things you need to know about oils for the skin type.

If you have Dry Skin

Avocado oil

Any type of essential oil can be beneficial for dry skin as all of them provide moisture for your dry patched skin. But there are some types that perform much better than the others in reducing the dryness. Oils which are rich in oleic acid, which is found in sweet almond, olive and avocado oils, tend to benefit dry skin and make it more hydrating and healthy.

 If you have Oily Skin

Oily skin could result in acne breakouts. Acne can also result from using the wrong type of oil on your skin. One should use oils rich in linoleic acid such as grapeseed oil, primrose oil etc. Linoleic is an omega-6 fatty acid which tends to provide “quick absorbing” moisture without leaving any greasiness. Besides linoleic oils, other oils good for oily skin are astringent oils such as cypress oil which not only reduces excess oil from your skin but also tightens skin tissues.

If You Have Sensitive Skin

Citrus oil

Sensitive skin type can benefit from oxidized citrus oils and warming essential oils such as cinnamon, but make sure that they are diluted appropriately, because these oils can aggravate temperamental skin. If citrus oil is improperly used, it can damage the skin. Those with sensitive skin should research their oils carefully to ensure that they have no adulteration.

Make sure you buy 100 percent natural essential oils and blends.
