Walking barefoot has several remarkable health benefits, including, improving sleep, reducing inflammation and increasing antioxidants in your body. It is also known as “earthing”, which means walking barefoot on grass, soil or sand. Our body’s internal bio-electrical environment is stabilized by the negative potential of the earth. Studies have shown that access to the abundant supply of free electrons in the ground can help neutralize free radicals in your body ( Free radicals which are associated with various ailments). Here are some benefits of walking barefoot.

 

 

Reduces inflammation

There are numerous sensory receptors and nerve ending on the soles of our foot,  so when a person is walking barefoot, free electrons from the earth  naturally flow between the earth and body, reducing free radicals and thus reduces and prevents inflammation from occurring in the body, which in turn prevents inflammation related health disorders.

For relieving stress, you should try to walk on the grass in the morning. Studies have shown that walking barefoot relaxes  and soothes mind.

Studies have shown that walking barefoot increases the surface charge of red blood cells, resulting in low blood viscosity. High blood viscosity is one of the factors in heart disease. Besides promoting heart health, it also helps regulate our endocrine and nervous systems.

Barefoot walking stabilizes the rhythm of our body and promote better sleep at night. Studies have shown that people who suffer from insomnia should do barefoot walking on a regular basis.

 

Improves Balance and Promote Emotional Health

Walking barefoot on the grass or soil, can stimulate our vestibular system and improves the balance. Potential signals are sent from the receptors of your soles, thus empowering your neural circuits and improving coordination.

It also affects the emotional health through pain reduction (Pain can result in emotional stress). Walking barefoot reduces inflammation , stress, has a calming effect, all of these benefits together improves mood.

Walking barefoot strengthens our muscles and bones. It also improves flexibility of our legs and back muscles. Earthing can reduce chronic pain and alleviate arthritic type health disorders.
